Consolidation Project for McDonald’s
McDonald’s, a global fast-food chain with over 36,000 restaurants in over 100 countries, faced the challenge of effectively managing self-serve kiosk, POS system, kitchen equipment, and construction equipment vendors. They sought a single service provider to consolidate vendor management, requiring real-time trackable inbound and outbound transportation and warehousing with specific solutions for stores based on a tight construction schedule. The solution needed to be flexible, variable-based, repeatable, and scalable nationwide.
The Project Goal
The goal was to streamline and consolidate the historically independent vendor system with multiple points of contact into one uniform system with a single point of contact. The project aimed to implement real-time trackable inbound and outbound transportation, storage, consolidation, and final delivery adhering to a strict construction schedule.
NXTPoint Logistics took a unique approach by leveraging its size, multiple warehouse locations, and expertise to manage all of McDonald’s vendors, effectively becoming the single-source point of contact. Rather than dealing with separate contractors for each vendor, NXTPoint Logistics provided inbound transportation from each vendor to a local market warehouse. These warehouses were equipped to assemble unique product kits for each solution. After assembling the kits, the company facilitated real-time trackable outbound delivery to stores, aligning with the strict construction schedule. NXTPoint Logistics served as the sole point of contact, handling all aspects of vendor management, transportation, and warehousing, streamlining the process and reducing hidden costs for the client.

“Prior to going to a consolidation center strategy, we had several inefficiencies in moving materials to our restaurant job sites. NXTPoint Logistics has helped us to not only consolidate shipments, but to also manage and store the material until we need it. Their expertise has helped reduce our freight costs, increase our schedule flexibility, and improve the relationship with our owner-operator community.”
