Inventory Management That’s Powered by Precision

For companies across all industries, inventory is more than product on a shelf. It represents the brand, its promise to the customer and its reputation. For growing companies, the ability to know what is available, where it is located and when it requires attention can determine whether the next order becomes a repeat customer or a missed opportunity.

As a People-Powered, Customer-Driven logistics provider, NXTPoint Logistics helps businesses manage inventory with accuracy, flexibility and confidence. Our teams combine warehousing expertise, responsive communication, practical problem-solving and advanced technology to support e-commerce fulfillment, retail distribution, manufacturing replenishment, seasonal demand management and scalable growth.

Warehouse Inventory Management

Warehouse inventory management keeps products organized, traceable and ready for fulfillment. This includes receiving, location control, transfers, replenishment, picking support, packing support and shipment staging. Inventory can be managed by location, aisle, rack, bin, pallet, case or unit to help reduce search time, improve accuracy and keep orders moving. Our tier-1 WMS has the ability to manage inventory in storage, as well as during inbound and outbound processing utilizing lot codes, date codes, serial numbers, LIFO (last in, first out), FIFO (first in, first out), FEFO (first expired, first out) and various other customizations based on the needs of the customer.

Real-time Inventory Visibility

Real-time visibility gives teams and customers access to current stock levels, inventory status, inbound activity, order allocation and exceptions. This helps to reduce overselling, avoid stockouts and support faster sales, purchasing, production and customer service decisions. This inventory visibility can be shared in the customer’s desired format (e.g., API, EDI, CSV, etc.) and is also available via our NXTView customer portal or via controlled access to our WMS.

Cycle Counting

Inventory accuracy is maintained through cycle counting, variance research, root-cause analysis and process correction. Regular counts by SKU, location, velocity, value or risk profile help identify issues early and prevent small discrepancies from becoming larger operational problems.

Lot, Serial and Expiration Tracking

Lot, serial and expiration tracking provide control from receipt through shipment. This supports product management, compliance, warranty details, recall readiness, quality control, regulated handling and product-specific reporting. It also alerts when certain products may be at risk for expiration, which could impact customer satisfaction and product integrity.

Tailored Inventory Management to Meet Your Needs

Different products require different handling strategies, and utilizing the right method for each customer helps protect quality, reduce waste, improve order accuracy and support financial and operational decisions. NXTPoint helps customers apply methods that fit their product type, compliance needs, customer requirements and business goals. These may include:

  • First in, first out (FIFO): FIFO inventory management prioritizes the oldest received inventory first and is useful for consumer goods, retail products, packaged items and inventory where product age matters.
  • First expired, first out (FEFO): FEFO inventory management prioritizes the earliest expiration or best-by dates, which are important for food and beverage, health/wellness, beauty, medical and other date-sensitive products.
  • Last in, first out (LIFO): LIFO prioritizes recently received inventory as needed for specific product flows, storage configurations or accounting considerations.
  • Complex SKU management: Our systems and experts are skilled at managing high SKU, high complexity environments as well as low SKU, high-value environments. Our expertise also extends to high SKU turnover when supporting new launches, continual slotting efficiency to drive cost savings through labor efficiencies, and reducing order processing times. We also support consolidation to reduce space required as needed. In addition, our systems can generate aging reports for client utilization to determine next best steps, including item disposal, liquidation, donation, etc.
  • Lot-controlled inventory: This management method groups inventory by production batch, receipt or manufacturing run to support traceability, quality assurance, recall readiness and reporting.
  • Serial number tracking: This method tracks individual units for electronics, equipment, high-value goods, warranty management, regulated products and chain-of-custody needs.
  • ABC inventory classification: ABC classification organizes inventory by importance, value, velocity or business impact so that higher-priority items receive tighter controls.

Inventory management affects nearly every part of the business. When inventory is inaccurate, unavailable, misplaced, overstocked, understocked or disconnected from orders, the result can be delayed shipments, lost sales, escalations, excess costs, expedited freight and frustrated teams. When managed well, supply chains become more predictable and resilient, resulting in greater customer satisfaction, efficiency, improved cash flow and more informed decision making for scalable growth.
